Christmas Magic!

Hey hey and Happy Thursday to you all. If you haven't already figured out, I am probably one of Christmas's top 10 biggest fans...maybe top 5. Growing up Christmas meant time off from school with family, Christmas music, Christmas lights, amazing food, giving presents, snow, more snow, travel and even more food. Those are pretty much all my favorite things in life. And we ALWAYS had a real tree. I think the tree is what I get the most excited about.

It seems to make my ordinary living room turn magical with all its sparkling lights and shiny ornaments and beautifully wrapped gifts just waiting to be ripped into...and in my house the occasional cat who curiously wonders up its branches :) So I decided my first Christmas craft of the season would be a tree.

Last week my sister and I were getting our craftasticness (not a word) on. It was so much fun! We took up as much space on the crafting table as possible, turned on some Christmas music, plugged in the hot glue gun and got to it!
Luckily for me I have a HUGE love for wine and was able to supply all the corks I needed for this project. Sis was kind enough to let me use her glue gun and craft paper, so this project was 100% free! Love it when that happens! I started off by assembling the corks into what I wanted my trees to look like. Then picked out the paper I wanted on the tree.

My sister had an awesome hole punch that helped save my hand from major cramping later. I punched out all the holes I needed and glued them to the corks. Then I took an x-acto knife and cut out the part that hung over.
Next step, I glued all the corks together to make the shape of a tree. This was the easiest part.
In the end, I had two adorable little trees. One all decorated with "ornaments" and the other was so unique I didn't think I needed to add anything but a shining star.
Aren't they precious!?!? I just love them! Now I need to go drag up my 30some Christmas bins from the basement and find a great place to show these off. Are you a star on top or an angel on top of the tree kind of family? I've always been an angel girl, but I'm really digging the bow thing people have started doing. Got any great projects in mind? Let me know. Love to hear them!

Thanks for stopping by!

  2. Precious indeed! So easy to make and so beautiful!

We have a star for the top of the tree. We have always had a star -even when I was a little girl, so I continued that tradition with my kids too.
    Have a lovely Friday!

  3. I think that is so creative! This would be a great homeschooling project for my daughter. However, I don't have any corks. Of course, I might be able to find something at the craft store to replace the corks.

  12. Lovely idea and they both came out beautifully. Its always such a disappointment when there is a plastic cork in a wine bottle - not sure what you can do with those!
