Christmas Wreaths

It's Hump Day!!
Every time I say or hear that I can't help but think of that hilarious Geico commercial with the camel. Too funny!

So there's what, only 21 days until Christmas?! I've barely dipped into my Christmas shopping, but according to my trusted team on the Today Show, Wednesdays are the best day to go shopping and avoid long lines and take advantage of new sales. So once this is up I'm grabbing my keys and hitting the stores!

Before I go I wanted to share with you a tasty easy treat the kids (and adults) will love. Christmas Wreaths!
This recipe is so easy and so fun! If you know how to make rice crispy treats, you can make these. If you don't know, well now you'll know :) Here's what you need to make this festive treat:
This recipe usually calls for corn flakes, but I looove sugar and decided to use frosted flakes instead.
These are so easy and there's really no right or wrong way to make them. So grab your kiddos and some butter and head to the kitchen to make this sweet Christmas treat!

Ingredients:
1/2 Cup butter
3-4 Cups mini marshmallows
1/2 tsp almond extract
1 tsp vanilla
Green food coloring
4 Cups frosted flakes (or corn flakes)
Red Hots

Directions:
First you'll want to line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.

Melt your butter in a deep pan, throw in the marshmallows and stir until melted together. Add in the vanilla, almond and green food coloring. Add as much food coloring as you need to get the color you want, there's no rules here. Pour in the flakes and stir until fully coated. Grab out chunks of the mix with buttered fingers and form them into different shaped circles. Press red hots into the circles to make them look more like wreaths. Let them set for about an hour. Enjoy!

What are you cooking up for the holiday season? I'm thinking of trying my hand at gingerbread cookies soon. Will be a first for me. Come back soon for my salty side dish I made for dinner the other night.

Thanks for stopping by!

    1. Yep I used 1/2 Cup. My comment about rice crispy treats was in reference to how you make them, not the actual recipe. Hope you like them!
